Introduction:
At 22 years old, Steven is the owner of GriffinImagery, a storytelling photography business! And although he has been posting images since January of 2015, this business branding session of his... is his first EVER session of getting his own portraits done.
His Why:
Steven said that he has never really been interested in showing his own portraits online. However, in recent weeks, he has warmed up to the idea of showcasing his personality and who he truly is. He expressed that he wants to be more relatable to his audience. He hopes to embed the idea of "I feel like I know you"... before he even meets his clients for the first time!
Steven describes his images as raw, authentic, bold, stylistic, and cinematic!
Steven said that photography came into his life quite organically. He began taking pictures of architecture, skateboarders, and landscapes in high school. He also recalls taking candid photos during random escapades with his friends. Since then, he has not stopped exploring photography.
The idea that that he could be a professional photographer did not cross his mind until someone asked him one of the most daunting questions at the time... "How much do you charge?"
And after thinking it through, he liked the idea more and more. He began to entertain the idea of becoming a professional, storytelling photographer!
I also asked Steven during his business branding interview:
What is your mission/purpose?
Steven replied that his mission as GriffinImagery is ... to evoke emotions. To further explain, he shared a common occurrence with his wedding clients. During his photo gallery reveals, he has found that his images often cause the bride and groom to be tearful. And Steven clarified that this is only one of the many moments that has helped him realize his impact as a professional storyteller.
I also encouraged and challenged Steven to gather a few of his favorite items, other than his photography equipment! And so, during the business branding session, he brought his Simple Elephant Planner and bought some coffee to use as his props!
Steven actually gave me the ULTIMATE photographer reward because this photo is now his current Facebook AND Instagram profile picture! Okaaaayyyy!!!
Steven also admits to loving coffee like:
Here are all 3 of his faves combined: photography, his journal, and coffee.
And here is Steven with some of his lenses, speedlights, and flash setups!
But before I officially end this blogpost...
I really want to celebrate how much Steven has grown since this experience! Just today, he posted his FIRST ever behind the scenes video for his fitness photoshoot with Tori Ryan Fit from TDNO Gym!
And this is coming from the SAME EXACT GUY I met who FEARED showing up on his own social media. I'm SO freaking proud of you for intentionally growing your biz, Steven. I know I've said that a lot already, but I really freaking am!
Okay, phew! Annnd that's it for Steven's story of GriffinImagery!
